Does anyone else struggle with the quality (or lack therof) their masks? I have a full mask that is cheap as cheap can be. The plastic is really poor and after a certain time, breaks. I have less good benefits than I had previously, and when I asked how much the mask would cost if I bought it outright was told $225!!!! I'm floored. I recognize that it's a piece of very well engineered, if not solidly built, work but damn - that's too rich for my blood. I've made my mask at least work with my hot glue gun (!) for now. Pretty scarey.

Re: Not-so-cheap CHEAP-ass masks

Mask quality does suck and I speculate that is on purpose. They just go bad, I have found. Even when they don't break, the little tabs and snap fittings parts wear down and things get loose over time. I have had to use all sorts of tape, zip ties, etc... and piece my mask back together after it fell apart.
I do not know what mask you have but mine has a whole host of spare parts for sale, I have found recently. I ordered extra parts for travel and for fixes earlier this year.
Also, I did not know that the first hose I was given was basically a throw-away - it was cheaply made and blue and full of ribbing that caused everything to whistle loudly sometimes. I just recently found out I can order high quality hoses that are smooth bore on the inside and built to be more flexible and long lastiing with real rubber connectors. It has made a lot of difference.
If you want, I can dig up the links I have on CPAP/BiPap online stores. I do not think they require a prescription for parts - only machines.
Sorry. Its such a hassle when they bust up.
