here is another problem that affects people with sleep apnea
I just got out of the hospital..and have been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension..
which From what I can tell..(this is new to me) fluid buildup around the heart..
not allowing enough oxygen to get into the lungs...
and thus..making me not able to get a full breath..
have been having a hard time breathing of late..
has anyone else been affected by this..?

Re: ok..folks...
Sat, March 7, 2009 - 1:31 PMI did or do... Part of having congestive heart Failure is problems with hyper tension in the lungs... Fluid builds up in and around the lungs... Then fluids build up around the heart making it work harder... Because the heart has to over come the fluid pressures and the restriction of the arteries through out the body it wears the heart out and the wall of the heart get stretched out... cardiomyopathy often referred inlarged heart... Mine is twice the size its spose to be...I check into having surgery that tries to correct this by cutting all the stretched parts of the heart out reshape the heart making it smaller and doubling up some of the muscle mass... They said no back then that heart transplant was all they could do because of my body size the heart couldn't support it... ( I wasn't fat then, now I am Orca fat)
Sorry I got side tracked... Heron they discovered this early so they should be able to help you... If they put you on furosimide or lasex (water pills) make sure you understand how to self dose on them... to many they are very rough on kidneys and surprisingly your hearing.... The pills can dry out those tiny bones in you ear and cause hearing loss at worst or damage at least... Constant ringing... I have that and I can't even think of going to sleep listening to that sound...
Take care and follow through on what they tell you to do... Let me know if you need something or understanding... love scotty -

Sun, March 8, 2009 - 6:05 AMScott..thanx for this info..
I will discuss this with my doc..even though they HATE...patience with infomation!
ya know what I am finding is..that doc's don't want you to go in with ideas..
I am not telling them..I am asking to put this in the pot of thought!
here is a great article....a friend sent to me..about this same issue..cause she knows the difficult path I have walked
trying to find ..docs that will truly listen...and try their best to solve the enigma's of my health..
www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...53.html
I am hoping that this last stint in the hospital..will help me get a lil further along ..in this battle..
but of course they found more stuff wrong..without figuring out the underlying cause of my illness...
well maybe there are many underlying causes..
the main one I am facing..is this unbelievable about of gas ..belching and bloating..in my body..
I have been suffering severely with this...its getting caught up in my chest cavity.. which mimics the pain of a heart attack!
its been brutal.. they want to give you pills to get rid of the symptoms without nailing what is CAUSING THIS PROBLEM!
and its making me sicker and sicker...
but am going to follow thru with this new batch of docs..and keep the ..PRESSURE on them.. see if they can handle it or they just ..
give the girl drugs and send her away!
and WOW ..Scotty.. this surgery to correct your heart problem..sounds serious..and VERY BRAVE!
please let us know if this is the direction you are going..
I am so glad you are keeping up the fight... we have to...............Eh!!!

Heart Problems no more....
Wed, March 11, 2009 - 3:59 AMQ: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... Don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies.. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
Q:Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit.
Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain.
Bottoms up!
Q:How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q:What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!
Q:Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!
.... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy?
HELLO
Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!
Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.
And remember:
'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'
AND......
For those of you who watch what you eat , here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you. ............ ..
