Are there any members of this tribe who are also members of the SCA or are non-members who attend "war" events? How do you deal with your need to use a CPAP while camping?
I have attempted to send an e-mail to the powers that be for both the upcoming Southern Crusades in November and the Estrella War in February 2007. The Estrella War website specifically states that there are no electrical recharging stations for personal medical devices. What's a SCAdian to do? I love my SCA experiences and don't want to stop; but I need my CPAP at night.
Any suggestions? I'm feeling more than a little frustrated at the moment.
Thanks for your help,
Leah

Re: Frustration!
Mon, October 9, 2006 - 6:52 PMLeah, have a look at the American Sleep Apnea Association Forums, the one on masks. There is a 4 page thread there on camping. It gets sort of technical but it might answer your question. If not, join up and post a question of your own. It's a great site.

My son-in-law used to be an SCA member but I think he has gotten away from it recently, probably because he no longer has the time for it. Way back in 1988, my husband and I took him and our daughter to Pennzic (sp?) near New Castle, PA using our trailer for their gear. We then went on farther south in PA so we could see Frank Lloyd Wright's famous house Falling Water, then went back to pick them up a week later.
That was quite a trip! Just before we reached the New Castle exit from the interstate we blew a tire on the car, which Pam and her father between them managed to change. Then when we were camping just north of Uniontown, PA, my husband took our tow car to the Sears Auto Shop in Uniontown for some service and while it was in the shop, there was a bomb scare in the adjacent shopping centre so everyone had to clear out while they waited for the bomb squad to come from Pittsburgh. Turned out to be a false alarm. But wait, that's not the end of the story. The next day, we just started out on a day trip when the tie rod ends fell off and we had to get a tow back to Sears. Turns out that the mechanic was so rattled by the bomb scare that he forgot to replace a cotter pin or equivalent.
