Re: Sleeping Update
Sat, March 10, 2007 - 8:05 AMHERON!!!
Woo hoo!!! I am THRILLED that all your persistance is starting to pay off!!! While you have not had the easiest adjustment to life with a CPAP, I bow to your committment to get the dang thing to work for you. WOO HOO!
Now for the tricky question, have you noticed any health benefit? It helped me immensely. I have definitely been on an upswing since I started a couple of years ago.
When you think about all the folks who don't take care of their apnea and how devastating it is for one's health - scary. SO worth checking into if people suspect they have it.
Happy sleeping, gf!!!

Re: Sleeping Update
Mon, March 12, 2007 - 8:49 AMHeron,
I felt better almost immediately. There were a lot of reasons, though. I started being able to sleep in bed regularly, could sleep (more or less) through the night, and had a better energy level throughout the day. My legs stopped feeling like concrete at the end of the day...sometimes they still do, but not nearly as bad. Back then it was all I could do to get to my car after work! The greatest improvement for me, however, was not so much physical as mental - my memory improved, concerntration was better, etc. Since I got the BiPAP, and this is really true, I have been on an upward movement as far as health is concerned. I had a setback in Feb 2006, but have been getting better over all. I saw my doc last Wednesday and told her that I think I am feeling the best I have felt in decades, if not EVER.
Heron, have you considered acupuncture for the fibro? I have a weird thing that happens to me every once in a while in my shoulders called radiculitis and it's extremely painful and involves the brachial nerves. With my first attack, several years ago, I was literally living on Vicodin and Aleve (couldn't get anything stronger at the time). While I did not develop a Vicodin addiction (thank you, God), I was so afraid of that pain, that sickening, gut-wrenching pain, that I would always keep the bottle of Vicodin on my person. After my first acupuncture treatment, I no longer needed the Vicodin. After the second one, I no longer needed the Aleve. Now, I know what to do - I go directly to the acupuncturist because Wester Medicine doesn't get nerve stuff. Chiropractic has helped ONCE. Acupuncture, however, is my treatment of choice. It's restful and doesn't really hurt. There is only very mild discomfort compared to the screaming pain that has me in there. I highly recommend you look into it.
Sending you peaceful thoughts and healing energy, mixed in with MAJOR prayers, dear one,

Re: Sleeping Update
Mon, March 12, 2007 - 9:17 AMJob front...
I am working part time again for a church. I hope it is half as open and accepting as the one I am leaving - I have never been able to be so open and transparent about myself in a religious setting before and I have been around a lot of that!
Thanks for asking, Heron.
I will not be saving much but I will no longer be miserable and borrowing funds. :)
